After I extracted the gull (from Pixabay) from its background, this was actually a fairly easy composite to make. I find that the most difficult part of any montage is coming up with an idea on how to use the starting image, Lydia provided this one. Actually, she did the first extraction and posted that, but it was on the small side, so I downloaded the largest size and masked it myself. You can see that image below.
The background is one of my photos, taken from the shore of a restaurant, near Fair Haven. overlooking Anchor Bay, the northernmost part of Lake St.Clair. We’re looking towards Windsor. Some times, on a clear day, one can see the tall towers of Detroit.
At first I though that if I duplicated and reversed the gull, I could have them staring at each other. I did have to adjust the lighting on the second gull. But that didn’t really work as the gulls didn’t have any obvious reason to throw the stink eye at each other. Once I added the gull decoy from PixelSquid, though, the image came together. The real gulls are puzzled, annoyed, skeptical, disgusted, surprised at the alien in their midst.
Take care and stay well. Be safe!
